“Modern Ikat”
From a young age, I have always been interested in culture, tradition and history. Coming from Uzbekistan, a country rich in heritage, colour and beautiful textiles pieces have continued to inspire me.
The collection of “Modern Ikat” concentrates on architectural buildings in city of Bukhara and colours of nature to create hand woven pieces. Each design is made from using only a single thread by continuously winding it onto a card without wasting any yarn.
The aim of this project involves combining both nature and architecture through looking at textures, surface patterns, and colours.
The process of my each piece involves hand dyeing and using traditional Ikat resist dye technique to create unique designs taking towards both in Fashion and Interior.
